Submission Guidelines for Writers and Photographers
Global Writes is the online magazine of the International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA), which was founded in Paris in 1954.

Global Writes provides a forum to promote the talents of writers and photographers who are members of IFWTWA. Occasionally, non-members may be asked to provide a story or photo essay as a Guest Contributor. Global Writes is a non-paying market.

Every story provides a link to the author's bio, headshot and website if they have one. In addition, the Contributors section includes links to all of the author's stories on the site. Articles may appear in more than one category on the site (for example, a story on France's wine country may appear under the Destinations: Europe and Wines & Spirits tabs.

We publish short pieces of 175 to 300 words, as well as longer articles of 900-1200 words (and these word counts are flexible) on destinations, hotels and resorts, cruises, restaurants, food, wine, beer and spirits, and all manner of other travel-related topics. We prefer to receive between one and eight images with captions to accompany each story; and also accept freestanding photo essays with captions.

All articles and photo essays will be protected with a © copyright line at the bottom.

There are no deadlines. Articles may be submitted at any time but please space out submissions by three-to-four weeks.

We look forward to seeing your stories and photographs. Please send them to globalwrites@ifwtwa.org

For membership information, visit www.IFWTWA.org or send an email to admin@IFWTWA.org.

HOW TO SUBMIT
Articles

Stories must be submitted as Word documents (not scans or PDF files). They can be pasted into the body of an email or as an attachment.

Ideally, documents will be in 12-pt. Century Gothic and 1.5 spaced. Do not insert photos into the text. Elaborate layouts or typefaces will be deleted.

Photos & Captions
Photos need to be sent as attachments and should be named, “a, b, c,” etc. to indicate the order they should appear in the story; along with a list of captions to match. Optional: If there are specific points in the story where each photo should appear, a placeholder can be inserted (for example: [photo a]), preferably in a different color.

When submitting a story, authors should separately submit a head shot (preferably taken while traveling) and a one-paragraph bio (see the “Contributing Authors” page for examples of the format) along with a link to their own website.

Optional
Suggest several key phrases to draw traffic to the story. These phrases can be sent with the photo captions or at the bottom of the article.
